In addition, the company provides intelligent transport system products; IT asset management/security products; CATV systems; contents distribution network; and wind profiler radars. Further, it offers plated and alloy wires, fluoroplastics-coated materials, and abrasion-resistant parts/materials; sintered ZnS lenses; semiconductors substrates, thermal control devices, and tool-related products; superconducting products; water treatment membrane modules, batteries, and photovoltaic and other energy systems; products for railway and transport machinery; steel wires; polytetrafluoroethylene porous material; Celmet, a porous metal; cutting and plastic working tools; and alloy sheets. The company was formerly known as Sumitomo Electric Wire & Cable Works and changed its name to Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. in 1939. Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. was founded in 1897 and is headquartered in Osaka, Japan.
